In General
This website does not gather and process information about you, except for the explicit purpose of abuse protection.
- Web requests are not logged or otherwise tracked, neither by me nor by third parties.
- There is no way to provide personally identifiable information, such as forms or other input fields.
- There are no cookies set by this website to track your behavior (with the exception of Anubis, see below).
- There are no resources from other websites included here.
You can personally verify the last three points by examining the source code repository of this website, and by using the development tools provided by your browser.
Anubis
This website uses Anubis for bot abuse protection. Anubis uses a cookie that contains personally identifiable information. The cookie is used exclusively for abuse protection, you are not being tracked.
Technical details are documented here.
What information is being collected?
Anubis derives a challenge from information that your browser automatically sends with every request, including:
- your browser's language settings
- your current IP address
- your browser's
User-Agent
string, which contains information about your browser and operating system (more information)
This information is irreversably scrambled into a challenge text, which is unique to you and could be used to track you.
What is the information being used for?
The information is used exclusively to validate that you completed the challenge, and are therefore allowed to access the site. More information can be found here.
Can I use this site without this?
Opting out of a protection mechanism defeats the purpose. Therefore, this site cannot be accessed without Anubis.
If Anubis stands in the way of you accessing the website in a non-abusive way, please contact me, and we will find a solution.
Where is my data being stored?
Anubis stores the aforementioned challenge, its solution, and some technical data in a cookie inside your browser. No information is being retained on our side (which would be in Germany).
How long is this information being retained?
The cookie automatically expires after one week, but can be manually deleted by you at any time.
Do third parties have access to my data?
No.
Who is responsible for the processing of my data?
Me, see the contact page.
What rights do I have?
You have the right to:
- be informed about the processing of your data. This is this page.
- access your data. You can access the cookie using the tools provided by your browser, and decode the contents using jwt.io.
- rectify the data. Modification of the cookie is not intended, so you will have to delete the cookie, and get a new one on the next site visit.
- have the data erased. Delete the cookie using the tools provided by your browser.
- object to or restrict the processing of the data, and avoid automated decision making. Leave the site, delete your cookies (see above). Unfortunately this site cannot be provided without the processing of your data as outlined above.
- move your data to a different provider. The processed data is of no value to other websites. You can technically delete the cookie and get another one on another site using Anubis.
- complain to the relevant authorities.
If you need anything, feel free to contact me.
